Local Collectivities: The Democratic Heritage Between Yesterday and Today

The issue of local collectivities, as a constitutional category in Tunisia, receives significant attention from all governments that have succeeded one another in the Tunisian nation, through its explicit mention in all constitutions from the Constitution of June 1, 1959, up to the Constitution of July 25, 2022. Indeed, the adoption of decentralization and the gradual focus on it by all constitutions and political systems reflects the utmost importance of this democratic heritage. This heritage compels all politicians and all involved parties in this matter to give the issue of focusing on local collectivities in their four categories the utmost attention, considering them the primary tool for establishing actual democracy.
