Abu al-Ala al-Ma'arri Through the Eyes of Abd al-Fattah Kilito in His Critical Blog: The Book "Abu al-Ala al-Ma'arri or Labyrinths of Discourse: A Model"

Abstract

This research paper addresses the perspective of the Moroccan critic Abdel Fattah Kilito on the character and thought of Abu Al-Ala Al-Ma'arri through his critical writings, particularly in his book titled "Abu Al-Ala Al-Ma'arri or the Labyrinths of Discourse." The paper aims to capture, discuss, and analyze the most important ideas that Kilito arrives at while deconstructing Al-Ma'arri's view of the universe and life, through the narratives, tales, or works of the philosopher poet around which multiple studies have been written to understand and interpret his poetry and personality according to various methodologies. It starts from a problematic question: How did Kilito understand Al-Ma'arri's perspective on humanity and life? What are his goals and objectives? Acknowledging that Kilito is known for his ability to extract meaning from texts and characters based on what he has read from both Arabic and Western heritage.
